As far as we can tell, no public source systematically documents how games behave, or how movies and TV shows are framed, on very wide displays. We built this database entry by entry, citing sources as we went — it may as well be useful to others.

Licence and conditions

The data is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. You may copy it, adapt it and use it commercially, on one condition: credit WideBase and link back to wide-base.com.

Movie and series posters are not part of the dataset: they come from TMDB and remain subject to their own terms. Game artwork belongs to its publishers. Only the factual data — formats, statuses, ratings, sources — is covered by the licence.

What the files contain

Every entry carries a stable identifier, reused in the URL of its page, so the dataset and the site can be cross-referenced. Fill rates for movies and series are computed, never entered by hand: they are the aspect ratio divided by the display's. The sources field lists the references behind each piece of information, so everything can be checked.

The files are regenerated on every site update. Last generated: 2026-08-11.

Spotted a mistake?

If you find an error — an aspect ratio recorded wrong, a game that has since received an official fix — we want to hear about it. The database is only worth its accuracy, and a wrong entry is worse than a missing one.
