Unlike a game, a movie's aspect ratio was locked once and for all at the shoot. The question isn't "is it compatible?" but "how much of my screen will the picture cover?"

The short version: scope (2.39:1) fills a 21:9 display almost perfectly — that is exactly why the format exists. On a 32:9 panel, however, no movie is worth recommending: even scope, the widest format there is, covers only two thirds of it. The rest is black bars.

Every entry lists the real broadcast aspect ratio, checked against its sources, and the fill rate computed for a 21:9 and for a 32:9 display. Individual entries are in French for now.
