The games whose cutscenes fill the screen
The detail that breaks immersion most often, and the games that got it right.
It's the most common flaw in ultrawide games, and the most frustrating: the action plays out across the full width of the screen, then a scene triggers and the image abruptly shrinks back to 16:9, framed by two thick black bars. In a narrative game that strings scenes together, the effect never lets up.
The reason is simple: many cutscenes are pre-rendered videos, baked once and for all at a fixed aspect ratio. The games that handle this well are the ones whose scenes are played in real time by the engine — they follow the screen's aspect ratio like the rest of the game.
The titles gathered here never cut away: from the opening scene to the credits, the image fills the whole panel.

BeamNG.drive 2015
Simulation 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · ExcellentBeamNG.drive runs on an in-house physics engine whose rendering follows a clear Hor+ logic: the wider the screen, the more you see to the sides of the vehicle and the surrounding terrain, a real advantage off-road as well as on track. How this list is built
It keeps the games whose "cutscenes" field reads "Yes" and whose format support is official. The individual statuses (format support, cutscenes, mod required) are explained on the Method page. Each entry links to its full French page, which carries its sources — English versions are on the way.
