Ultrawide games that work with no mods at all

Nothing to install, nothing to configure: launch it, and the screen is full.

Community fixes do remarkable work, but they come at a real cost: you have to find them, check that they keep up with the game's latest update, sometimes disable an anti-cheat, and start over with every patch. Plenty of players would simply rather it worked.

So this selection only keeps games whose support is official and that ask for absolutely nothing: no mods, no config files to edit, no command-line switches. Install it, pick your resolution in the options, and you're done.

It's also the safest list for online games, where installing a mod can get you banned.

40 entries in this collection, drawn from our 217 games. Official support, no mods, no files to edit.
  1. 1
    Baldur's Gate 3

    Baldur's Gate 3 2023

    RPG 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

No setup required: 3440×1440 works from the first launch, with an interface that stretches cleanly and a tactical camera that makes good use of the extra space to survey the battlefield. Real-time dialogue uses the full width of the screen; only a few pre-rendered intro videos stay in 16:9, as in 32:9.

  2. 2
    Counter-Strike 2

    Counter-Strike 2 2023

    FPS 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Counter-Strike 2 renders natively at 3440x1440 via the standard launch options, with a field of view that covers the full width of the screen and no black bars at all. Since 21:9 is the most widespread ultrawide ratio, the UI (radar, menus, scoreboard) is even better calibrated here than at 32:9.

  3. 3
    Cyberpunk 2077

    Cyberpunk 2077 2020

    RPG 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

At 3440×1440, Cyberpunk 2077 runs natively with no config-file tweaking required: a convincing widened field of view, and a recentered HUD that stays perfectly legible at the edges. The first-person cutscenes, already solid in 32:9, fill the screen here without any of the artifacts tied to the extreme width of that format.

  4. 4
    Minecraft: Java Edition

    Minecraft: Java Edition 2011

    Bac à sable 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

Minecraft: Java Edition displays any resolution perfectly, 21:9 as well as 32:9, since the horizontal FOV is recalculated automatically from the base vertical FOV with no distortion at all. There are no pre-rendered cutscenes to worry about.

  5. 5
    Half-Life 2

    Half-Life 2 2004

    FPS 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

Since Valve's official 2020 update, 3440x1440 is handled perfectly, with a widened FOV and no black bars. The HUD can be locked to 4:3, 16:9 or 16:10 in the video options depending on your preference, and the Source engine's scripted sequences, which share the same camera as the gameplay, adapt naturally to the width of the screen.

  6. 6
    League of Legends

    League of Legends 2009

    Stratégie 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

League of Legends adapts natively to 21:9 just as it does to any other resolution: the isometric camera simply widens the visible area laterally, with no stretching and no black bars, with a less extreme result than at 32:9 and therefore less controversy over competitive advantage. The out-of-game client (login, champion select) stays in a format close to 16:9, as it does at 32:9.

  7. 7
    Balatro

    Balatro 2024

    Roguelite 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

The card game natively fills the screen at 3440x1440 exactly as at 32:9, with no black bars or cropping, the developer having confirmed wide support. The play area stays centered and the extra space on the sides serves only as decorative background, with no gain or loss in card readability.

  8. 8
    Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered

    Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered 2022

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

21:9 is the reference format for this Nixxes port: the studio clearly built it as the baseline before extending to 32:9 and 48:9. At 3440×1440, real-time cutscenes fill the screen without the slight edge blurring seen in 32:9, the HUD is sharp and well positioned, and the field of view while swinging between skyscrapers is very comfortable.

  9. 9
    Factorio

    Factorio 2020

    Gestion 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

Factorio runs in native full-screen at any resolution, 3440x1440 included, exactly as at 5120x1440, and contains no cutscenes. The only caveat, common to both formats: the inventory and research windows stay centered rather than spread out to the sides.

  10. 10
    Stardew Valley

    Stardew Valley 2016

    Simulation 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

As at 32:9, Stardew Valley delivers flawless Hor+ rendering at 3440x1440, rated Gold by WSGF, with a HUD that adapts without a hitch and a much wider view of the world at the sides. The old bug preventing clicks on the right side of the screen beyond 4096 pixels doesn't affect this narrower resolution anyway.

  11. 11
    Marvel's Spider-Man 2

    Marvel's Spider-Man 2 2025

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Nixxes Software applies the same careful ultrawide policy to Spider-Man 2 as it did to Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales: 3440x1440 is fully supported in exploration, in combat and in the in-engine cutscenes, with no black bars and no visible distortion. Swinging across New York takes full advantage of the widened field of view, and the HUD stays well positioned.

  12. 12
    Portal 2

    Portal 2 2011

    FPS 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

Portal 2 runs on the Source engine and offers excellent native Hor+ support at 3440x1440, with a well-positioned HUD and scripted transitions that display full-screen with no cuts. Only split-screen co-op requires a small edit to the splitscreen_config.txt file to adjust the aspect ratio of each half of the screen, a special case that does not affect the single-player experience.

  13. 13
    God of War Ragnarök

    God of War Ragnarök 2024

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Santa Monica Studio explicitly states support for 21:9 in addition to 32:9, with real work on the "no cut" camera that blends cutscenes and gameplay. The result at 3440×1440: story scenes fit naturally into the widened frame, with no black bars or abrupt reframing, and the HUD follows correctly.

  14. 14
    Cities: Skylines II

    Cities: Skylines II 2023

    Gestion 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Cities: Skylines II runs natively at 3440x1440 with no mod, with a city view that takes full advantage of the screen width and looks less stretched than in 32:9, where some info panels appeared distorted. The game has no cutscenes as such.

  15. 15
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle 2024

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

21:9 (3440x1440) is selectable natively and, unlike 32:9, which suffers a slight zoom that crops some detail in cutscenes, the presentation here is described as perfectly smooth in both exploration and cutscenes, with no black bars. A community fix (GreatCircleFix) exists precisely to address the 32:9 issue, but it is not needed at 21:9, where the experience is already clean by default.

  16. 16
    BioShock Infinite

    BioShock Infinite 2013

    FPS 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

The game natively supports 3440x1440 with a horizontal field of view expansion (Hor+), with no black bars and no mod required. HUD elements (health, ammo, vigors) stay readable overall, since the edge placement seen at 32:9 is far less pronounced at this less extreme aspect ratio.

  17. 17
    Horizon Forbidden West

    Horizon Forbidden West 2024

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

The Nixxes port delivers a very clean widescreen render at 3440×1440, with a well-distributed HUD and an adjustable FOV that makes full use of the screen. Story cutscenes show black bars by default, but the native "Cinematics Letterboxing" option in the display settings lets you turn them off without a mod, unlike in 32:9 where the result is more uneven.

  18. 18
    Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

    Kingdom Come: Deliverance II 2025

    RPG 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

The game automatically applies Vert+ scaling at 3440x1440, gaining genuine peripheral field of view rather than losing image at the top and bottom. Cutscenes display full-screen following the launch patch that fixed their presentation.

  19. 19
    Manor Lords

    Manor Lords 2024

    Stratégie 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

On Unreal Engine, Manor Lords handles 3440x1440 exactly as it does 32:9: straight from launch, with no configuration and no black bars, giving a wider view of villages and fields that shows off the city building well. The HUD stays proportioned and legible with no noticeable stretching, and 21:9 is actually more comfortable visually than 32:9 since UI elements stay closer to the center.

  20. 20
    Microsoft Flight Simulator

    Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

    Simulation 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

3440×1440 is supported natively, with a widened cockpit view that is even more comfortable than in 32:9 because it is less stretched at the edges. The flight instruments stay legible, the UI uses the full width without excessive distortion, and the menus adapt correctly.

  21. 21
    iRacing

    iRacing 2008

    Simulation 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

iRacing natively supports every 21:9 resolution, with a built-in FOV calculator to dial in the field of view precisely without distortion, and a fully repositionable HUD that can span the entire width of the screen. Since the simulator has no cutscenes, replays display in the same full-screen format as the race.

  22. 22
    Valheim

    Valheim 2021

    Bac à sable 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Valheim natively renders the world at full 3440x1440 without a single black bar, with the same pleasant Hor+ rendering as at 32:9. The complaint about the UI being pinned to the edges of the screen instead of repositioned is far less noticeable at this more moderate ratio than at 32:9, with the inventory and health bar staying reasonably readable.

  23. 23
    Euro Truck Simulator 2

    Euro Truck Simulator 2 2012

    Simulation 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

Native 32:9 support carries over identically to 21:9, with an adjustable field of view and a truck cab that fills the screen ideally, mirrors and dashboard included. There are no cutscenes to speak of, only menus and a UI that stretch cleanly across the full width.

  24. 24
    Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

    Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered 2024

    Action-RPG 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

The remaster displays 3440x1440 natively during exploration and combat, and unlike 32:9, which needs the community SUWSF tool to remove pillarboxing, 21:9 gets a built-in option: turning off "Cinematic Letterboxing" in the display settings is enough to show cutscenes and dialogue full-screen. It is a good example of a native compatibility ceiling set at 21:9 by the studio, with super ultrawide not benefiting the same way.

  25. 25
    Resident Evil 2 (2019)

    Resident Evil 2 (2019) 2019

    Horreur 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Good news at 3440x1440: that is precisely the limit beyond which cutscenes and menus start to pillarbox. At 21:9, everything displays full screen with no black bars, both in game and in scripted scenes, as confirmed by several player reports.

  26. 26
    Outer Wilds

    Outer Wilds 2019

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

Outer Wilds, already praised for its near-perfect support at 5120x1440, behaves at least as well at 3440x1440: no black bars, nothing cropped at the top or bottom, and a field of view that feels natively designed for ultrawide from the start of development. Since the game plays out entirely in real time in first person within its time loop, there are no pre-rendered cutscenes that could break immersion.

  27. 27
    Farming Simulator 25

    Farming Simulator 25 2024

    Simulation 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

At 3440x1440, Farming Simulator 25 runs natively with no black bars at all: the Hor+ field of view opens up a comfortable view across the fields without the pronounced wheel distortion seen at 32:9, since this less extreme format keeps edge stretching in check. The HUD, never reworked for ultrawide, remains legible and well centered.

  28. 28
The Last of Us Part II Remastered

The Last of Us Part II Remastered 2025

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

As Naughty Dog announced at PC launch, The Last of Us Part II Remastered supports 21:9 natively and completely, cutscenes included, since they are rendered in real time by the game engine rather than pre-rendered. Output at 3440x1440 is therefore flawless, with no black bars or cropping, from gameplay to narrative scenes.

  29. 29
    Resident Evil Village

    Resident Evil Village 2021

    Horreur 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

RE Engine handles 21:9 as well as 32:9: no stretching of the image or the UI at 3440×1440, in exploration and during the confrontations with Lady Dimitrescu alike. Cutscenes follow the same wide format with no black bars reported, either on PCGamingWiki or in community feedback.

  30. 30
    God of War

    God of War 2022

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

At 3440x1440, Jetpack Interactive's Hor+ handling widens the field of view naturally, with no stretching or noticeable distortion, and the aspect ratio is even more comfortable than 32:9 since it is less extreme. Thanks to the continuous one-shot staging, the camera never changes between exploration and narrative scenes: dialogue and boss fights therefore get the same wide, immersive presentation, with no cuts and no black bars.

  31. 31
    Dota 2

    Dota 2 2013

    Stratégie 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Dota 2 is listed on the Widescreen Gaming Forum as officially 21:9 compatible, with the same approach as at 32:9: the isometric camera widens the visible area with no distortion and no black bars. Since the ratio is more moderate, the HUD elements PCGamingWiki flags as occasionally stretched at 32:9 display far more reliably here, much closer to how they look at 16:9.

  32. 32
    Assetto Corsa Competizione

    Assetto Corsa Competizione 2019

    Course 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

As in 32:9, native rendering at 3440×1440 is impeccable, with the same official field of view and projection correction options designed for wide screens. Peripheral vision on corner exit is a genuine advantage for anticipating rivals, and the cockpit interior stretches without objectionable distortion.

  33. 33
    Apex Legends

    Apex Legends 2019

    FPS 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Apex Legends benefits from native 21:9 support that has matured since 2019 and is far more polished than its 32:9 counterpart: the horizontal FOV widens cleanly in matches and, unlike at super ultrawide, the menus, loading screens and legend showcases display correctly with no visible stretching. The HUD stays readable across the full width without elements being pushed too far into the corners.

  34. 34
    Days Gone

    Days Gone 2021

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Days Gone runs natively at 3440x1440 with a Hor+ FOV and a HUD that extends cleanly across the full width, as the PC community noted at the time of the port. While at 32:9 some cutscenes remain cropped to 16:9, 21:9 benefits from the compatibility ceiling many games apply to their cutscenes: here they display full-screen with no black bars.

  35. 35
    DOOM Eternal

    DOOM Eternal 2020

    FPS 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

DOOM Eternal remains a benchmark for the genre at 21:9 according to the WSGF: gameplay and in-engine cutscenes display a perfectly correct Hor+ ratio across the full width of the screen, with no black bars and no distortion. The stretched main menu flaw, classified as incomplete by the WSGF, applies specifically to the super ultrawide (32:9) category and does not affect this more common resolution.

  36. 36
    Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart 2023

    Plateforme 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

Insomniac Games built its PC port with native 21:9 support that is every bit as accomplished as its 32:9 support, triple-screen included. At 3440x1440, the field of view widens without distortion and the cutscenes, specifically optimized for wide formats, play full-screen with no black bars at all.

  37. 37
    BeamNG.drive

    BeamNG.drive 2015

    Simulation 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

BeamNG.drive handles 21:9 as excellently as it does 32:9: a fully customizable UI, no black bars, and rendering that automatically adapts to the chosen screen width. A physics simulation sandbox with no cutscenes whatsoever, it presents no visual break between the menus and driving.

  38. 38
    Stellar Blade

    Stellar Blade 2025

    Action-aventure 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Very good

Stellar Blade is one of those games that prioritize 21:9: official support covers a very wide range of aspect ratios from PC launch, with no mod to install. The occasional black bars some players report mainly concern 32:9, a more extreme format and a lower priority for developers; at 3440x1440, cutscenes display normally in full screen.

  39. 39
    Oxygen Not Included

    Oxygen Not Included 2019

    Gestion 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

Oxygen Not Included handles 21:9 natively and without a hitch, exactly like the already validated 32:9: the underground base displays across the full width of the screen, with a UI that stays readable and well positioned. No cutscene disrupts the experience, since the game takes place entirely through its management screens.

  40. 40
    Risk of Rain 2

    Risk of Rain 2 2020

    Roguelite 21:9 · Excellent 32:9 · Excellent

At 3440x1440, Risk of Rain 2 gets the same Hor+ treatment seen at 32:9: the camera widens naturally with no cropping or unwanted zoom, and the HUD stays readable without excessive stretching. Since the game has no pre-rendered cutscenes, there is no chance of being forced back to 16:9 during a dialogue or scripted scene.

How this list is built

It cross-references three fields in the database: support "Yes - Official", mod "No", and a 21:9 rating of at least "Very good". The individual statuses (format support, cutscenes, mod required) are explained on the Method page. Each entry links to its full French page, which carries its sources — English versions are on the way.
